We provide 3D model design using Solidworks parametric modeling tools.  The models are created as 3 dimensional virtual solid parts making evaluation through visualizing and simulation of a concept idea possible before committing additional resources to fabricate real parts.  This approach helps identify issues early in a project that may require tweaks or possibly another approach to accomplish the design intent.  An exciting by-product of 3D modeling is the possibility for 3D printing of prototype parts and assemblies, often deliverable within a week and sometimes within days of design phase completion.

We provide design and prototyping services under your direction or as a creative partner.  Based upon your goals, we can create your 3D virtual model and work with you through prototyping and patent support.  We also can assist with manufacturing options.

Solidworks is utilized to produce virtual models of parts and assemblies.  A few benefits include:

  • Parametric 3D model design
  • Part & Assembly Drawings, BOMs
  • Simulation of real world effects and capabilities using a virtual model
  • Generation of 3D models and drawings for use and review on your local computer.

CAPABILITIES

We have worked under the following regulations, systems, and standards:

  • Solidworks EPDM Document Management
  • ASME Y14.5M (GD&T)
  • FDA 21 CFR Part 820 & 11
  • ISO 13485:2003

Our projects have included:

  • Opto-Mechanical Design
  • Electro-Mechanical Design
  • Mechanical Design of Scientific Cameras
  • Design of both passive and active optical device packaging (single & multi-mode)
  • Assemblies incorporating metals, plastics & elastomers
  • Rapid prototyping & 3D printing
  • Specification of materials & finish
  • Part & Assembly drawings
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Simulation of real world effects and capabilities using a virtual model

MODEL DESIGN

Material Selection

  • The choice of material has significant impact on the project, eg, product integrity/durability, inter-material compatibility, ease of fabrication, lead times, & cost.

Finish

  • An important part of the finished product whose benefits can include protection against abrasion and corrosion, enhance mechanical properties, and provide an aesthetic appeal.

Evaluation

  • During the design process components can be visually inspected as part of a 3D assembly and simulations performed using Finite Element Analysis to aid in evaluating performance characteristics, eg, stress and deflection.

Drawings

  • Drawings can be created for parts, assemblies, BOMs, OTS parts, etc.
