Electronic equipment losses involving bio-fluids do
occur. An investigation of a significant service disruption was a
challenge and ultimately solved when, using analytical techniques, it was determined that the equipment
was infiltrated by a mixture of contaminants including those identified as
urea and creatinine, constituents of urine. Additional contaminants
also were identified, originating from a common source. Identification
of the causal agent was very significant to the client with positive
ramifications in regard to their exposure in the loss.
